The basic fact is that every cellular process that occurs in the body is completely dependent on nutrition.  It’s basic common sense that eating well and taking a few targeted nutritionals is good for you. The reality is that we are facing a multitude of chemicals every day. Eating more organic, minimizing pre-packaged foods and limiting our dining out are some good habits but few people today can meet their nutritional requirements through food alone.  The body’s requirements for antioxidants alone are far beyond what a normal diet can supply.  We also need the trace minerals and phytonutrients the body needs to enable other antioxidants and all enzymatic processes to deep us alive.  Industrial farming has not made already depleted soils from which our foods must gain mineral content from any better in the last 100 years. The result is dietary deficiencies of trace minerals and phytonutrients. Farmers are our life source but are they returning to the soil over the years what has been taken out of the soil, that is the question.

What should you look for when creating a nutritional plan?  pH balance is the foundation of good health.  A good place to start is to find out where your pH is and how to keep it at the optimum 7 – 7.2 Obtain the bookThe Acid-Alkaline Diet’ by Christopher Vasey and by using pHion test strips to determine your pH composite reading and understand how to begin.  Homeostasis is the theory that we all possess an internal system of regulation that keeps everything functioning at certain levels to stay alive and vital on a consistent basis.  When you drink a can of soda pop your body steals minerals from your bones to buffer all the acid; it’s not concerned with the increased risk of osteoporosis 20 years from now. Every function in the body is regulated in this way with checks and balances working 24/7 on your behalf.  All of these are dependant on your nutritional intake. With all this in mind it becomes second nature to think about what your putting into your body and making better choices begins to become a habit. The body happily responds with better health and longer life. A good guage is the 80/20 rule, 80% healthy and 20% unhealthy for starters. I always say “THINK HEALTHY” in every thing you do, you won’t regret it.

Antioxidants for Immune function , green nutrition (capsules, juice, powders) for pH balance, Omega fish oils for circulatory health, Amino Acids for cardiovascular endurance, Calcium and D3 for bones, Glucosomine, MSM, and Chondroitin for joints, minerals and trace minerals for energy and cellular health, to mention a few. Start by committing to yourself to take care, listen and become in tune with your body and start eating healthy foods.  Eliminating the Chemicals alone and by drinking clean, pure unchlorinated water, at least 6 glasses a day will make a world of difference.  Eat breakfast and give your body fuel to run on before you start pushing it hard to perform.

Note: Purchase book “The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health” by Christopher Vasey, N.D. and/or test strips from pHion (click on Affiliate link for pHiion)

Bone & Joint Health

The key to strong, healthy bones is an active lifestyle and consistent, adequate intake of bone-building nutrients.  Protein, calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D and trace minerals are all essential to proper bone formation, as are specialized nutrients like ipriflavone and strontium.

Regular supplementation with the right nutritional “building blocks” is also important to maintaining healthy joint function.  As we age, our body’s production of cartilage and joint fluid can diminish, which results in less flexibility and joint mobility.  Research has shown that supplementing with nutrients like glucosamine and chondroitin can help promote joint health by supplying important substances needed for joint repair and maintenance.  Other joint-healthy nutrients include MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), an important source of dietary sulfur, and the anti-inflammatory herb Boswellia serrata.

Testimony:  About four years ago there was so much pain in my hips, it was to painful to lie on my side to sleep.  I started taking Glucosamine & Chondroitin w/MSM and the pain was completely gone in just a few days.  I started out by taking two in the morning with breakfast and two with my evening meal.  I did that for one month and then went to one in the morning and one in the evening.  I have stayed on this amount and am experiencing continued relief.  I am almost sixty years old and am very active, working four days a week, cleaning houses and doing homecare.  I also supplemented with Calcium and Ipriflavone to strengthen my bones along with vitamin D3.  It’s wonderful to be free of pain and able to continue to be active.  I’m not ready to slow down yet.

  • Our colon takes a beating in so many ways.  We don’t think about how marvelous it has been working for us until it starts to speak back to us and say “Hey, what are you doing to me, that hurts!”  Having a little more respect for our bodies by listening to what our body is trying to tell us is a practice well worth acquiring.  The most effective tool we can have is to be in tune with our body.  Listening and responding to the messages our body is sending us that we need to change something we are doing and then find out what to do right.  What a magnificent machine and design and awesome responsibility to care for, the human body.
  • Acidophilus, Bifidophilus and other species of Lactobacillis are friendly bacteria necessary fro colon health.  They aid in digestion and assimilation of some nutrients, and may help produce vitamin B-!2 for the body.  They protect the body against yeast and other harmful micro-organisms.  Protecting against diarrhea when traveling or acting as a mild laxative in constipation.  They are depleted and destroyed by antibiotics.  Therefore, probiotics should always be taken after a round of antibiotics.  They can be taken orally or used in enemas or douches for thrush-related diaper rash.  The best product for general use is Probiotic Eleven.  Children benefit highly from Bifidophilus Flora Force.  After a round of antibiotics, L. Reuteri (chewable) is the best choice as it aggressively knocks down yeast and helps other friendly bacteria gain a new foothold.  For general use take 1 to 2 capsules before meals on an empty stomach. Probiotics are especially helpful when travelling abroad because they can help to prevent traveler’s diarrhea. When travelling, double or triple the amount normally consumed, and take then with meals. Also take1 capsule with any in-between meal snack.
