The basic fact is that every cellular process that occurs in the body is completely dependent on nutrition.  It’s basic common sense that eating well and taking a few targeted nutritionals is good for you. The reality is that we are facing a multitude of chemicals every day. Eating more organic, minimizing pre-packaged foods and limiting our dining out are some good habits but few people today can meet their nutritional requirements through food alone.  The body’s requirements for antioxidants alone are far beyond what a normal diet can supply.  We also need the trace minerals and phytonutrients the body needs to enable other antioxidants and all enzymatic processes to deep us alive.  Industrial farming has not made already depleted soils from which our foods must gain mineral content from any better in the last 100 years. The result is dietary deficiencies of trace minerals and phytonutrients. Farmers are our life source but are they returning to the soil over the years what has been taken out of the soil, that is the question.

Every function in the body is regulated in this way with checks and balances working 24/7 on your behalf.  All of these are dependant on your nutritional intake. With all this in mind it becomes second nature to think about what your putting into your body and making better choices begins to become a habit. The body happily responds with better health and longer life. A good guage is the 80/20 rule, 80% healthy and 20% unhealthy for starters. I always say “THINK HEALTHY” in every thing you do, you won’t regret it.

Bone & Joint Health

The key to strong, healthy bones is an active lifestyle and consistent, adequate intake of bone-building nutrients.  Protein, calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D and trace minerals are all essential to proper bone formation, as are specialized nutrients like ipriflavone and strontium.

Regular supplementation with the right nutritional “building blocks” is also important to maintaining healthy joint function.  As we age, our body’s production of cartilage and joint fluid can diminish, which results in less flexibility and joint mobility.  Research has shown that supplementing with nutrients like glucosamine and chondroitin can help promote joint health by supplying important substances needed for joint repair and maintenance.  Other joint-healthy nutrients include MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), an important source of dietary sulfur, and the anti-inflammatory herb Boswellia serrata.
